Caravan gadgets and gismos!

Modern caravans are a far cry from those of yesteryear - many of them now have gadgets on them that most of us wouldn’t even know existed! Gone is the perception that caravanning is just for older couples, with all the bells and whistles that come as part and parcel of today’s caravans, young couples and families are giving caravanning a go as well - 2020 has definitely been the year for it!

But where to start? With all the different manufacturers and models available on the market there is a lot to sift through to find one that comes with your ideal range of extras. As official dealers of both Swift and Bailey, we’ll focus on these two manufacturers; to be honest, they’re both pretty great!

SWIFT

Swift manufactures six different ranges - the Sprite, Sprite Super, Challenger, Challenger X, Elegance and the Elegance Grande. The Sprite is the most affordable model, but still packs a punch with lots of impressive kit and extra luxuries you wouldn’t expect. The Challenger offers everything you could wish for and more and the Elegance goes that extra mile to ensure you are surrounded by luxury. The Super, X and Grande models are the 8ft wide versions for those that crave a little more space.

Swift Command

Swift Command is Swift’s exclusive control system that takes caravan technology to the next level. If you’re someone who likes their gadgets, Swift is the manufacturer for you! It consists of a 7" LCD colour touchscreen which allows you to control all the systems within your caravan and it’s easy to use.

It has an integrated DAB and FM radio, simple controls that allow you to monitor and manage different systems such as the heating, air conditioning, humidity levels and the temperature both in and outdoors.It also keeps track of your solar panel charging levels, acts as a load limiter, monitors power usage and manages the water system as well as the lighting. Quite simply, it’s amazing!

Swift Command app

The cherry on the cake is that you can control the essential systems such as the power, heating and selected lighting via your mobile device thanks to the Swift Command app. It’s easy to operate and uses Bluetooth connectivity when with the vehicle and Wi-Fi / GSM when away from the vehicle (subject to network coverage).

Kitted out kitchens

All Swift caravans have fantastic kitchen appliances including gas hobs, microwave ovens and good size fridge-freezers. The top of the range Elegance boasts a 177-litre Dometic Series 10 dual hinged double door fridge freezer and Omnivent three speed, two way roof fan to make mealtimes that little bit easier.

Wonderful washrooms

Self-contained facilities have been a godsend in 2020. In a Swift you’ll enjoy a few extra luxuries whilst you cleanse! The Ecocamel Orbit shower head provides a powerful shower but uses less water than many others, the Thetford C260 toilet comes with an electric flush for ease and some models are kitted out with premium quality speakers as well - shower karaoke is on!

Creature comforts

The Challenger and Elegance ranges are heated by the Alde system whilst the Sprite has the Truma blown air system. Both are great and can be controlled via Swift Command. There is also a separate digital programmable controller for the heating and hot water, which comes in handy.

Lighting in the Elegance is pretty special. You’ll find low energy LED lighting throughout, with overlocker and under-locker lights, plus dimmable task lights and low level night lights as well. 

Safe and secure

The Swift Command system comes with a Thatcham pro-active tracker, which is pre-installed (subject to annual subscription) and will increase the chances of keeping your caravan secure as it issues an alert as soon as your vehicle is disturbed.

Other security and safety devices that come with all models include one-key high security locks, secure wheel locks, stabiliser, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector and a VIN CHIPTM identification system which is concealed within the construction to deter theft and aid quick recovery.

Higher spec models also benefit from trailer stability control, an infra-red alarm system with tilt sensor and key fob operation and a rear view camera for improved vision.

Added extras…

All Swift caravans come with a picturesque panoramic front sunroof with recessed lights and speakers which makes lounging the ideal pastime. Most also come with a roof mounted solar panel (or as optional extra) providing power off-grid and all are dotted with sockets and USB ports to ensure your devices can be kept fully charged throughout your trip.

BAILEY

Bailey manufactures five different ranges; the Alicanto Grande, Pegasus Grande SE, Unicorn Black Edition, Phoenix+ and the Discovery. These ranges offer 26 models between them from the compact crossover vehicle that is the Discovery, to the 8ft-wide luxury-focused Alicanto. The Pegasus also offers the 8ft width but is more affordable and simpler in spec, whilst the Unicorn comes in the standard width and combines practicality with elegance. The Phoenix+ is the most affordable range with less in the way of luxury, but bags of versatility and comfort. Every kitchen is fitted with a Dometic fridge-freezer and Thetford combined oven, grill and hob - various models - providing you with all you need to quip up pretty much anything you fancy!

Alicanto Grande

When it comes to features, there’s not much left to the imagination! From security and safety systems to kitchen appliances, the Alicanto has it all!
