Meet Louise Lee, Internal Valeter
blog / company news / pre-owned caravans
Louise joined the team three years ago and spends her days making sure the caravans are as clean as a whistle! Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children and doing crafty things such as knitting and cross-stitch when she gets the chance.
What does your role involve?
I’m responsible for cleaning the interior of the pre-owned caravans. So when one is traded in, usually as a part exchange when they’re upgrading to a newer model, we go in and do our thing to make sure it’s spic and span and in the best possible condition for the new buyer.
We tend to start from the top and work our way down! We have a routine that we go through each time to ensure nothing is missed and we’re very thorough. Every van is different depending on how clean the previous owner left it and of course how old it is. We use specialist cleaning products to ensure the different surfaces are well looked after and we won’t complete the job until we’re 100% happy with the finished result!
What is your career background?
Before coming to work here, I ran a small village Post Office. It was a lovely job and I really enjoyed it but it was only open 8 hours a week and once the kids were older I needed a job with a few more hours. When I applied for this role, I requested school hours and they were happy to accommodate that, which is a huge bonus for me as it allows me to fit my work around my family.
What are the benefits of caravanning?
It allows you to have your own home on wheels that you’re able to use to get away on holiday anytime you like! It’s convenient, everything is there ready to go and you can go wherever you fancy!
What do you find most rewarding about your role?
It’s really nice when you’ve finished cleaning a caravan and it looks great and you can see what all your hard work has achieved! You can make the difference between something looking ok and something looking great! It’s especially rewarding with older models as these have usually been used more and will need more attention. Once you get them looking their best, it’s very satisfying.
What do you find most challenging about your role?
Sometimes an issue will arise that isn't straightforward to sort out, but in that situation, we all pull together as a team to find the best solution so that once our work is done, the van looks great! Ensuring that each and every caravan leaves our service looking good and in the best possible condition is a must.
Why is Winchester Caravans and Motorhomes a great place to work?
The team here is fantastic, everyone gets on with each other and helps out where they can. If someone is up against it, others will chip in and help share the load to ensure the job gets done. It’s a great place to be!
