February, the month of romance and complete relaxation.
During this month of love Winchester Caravans is keen to pass on some tips for ensuring that your early season getaway is the perfect break after the stresses of Christmas.
Although we would all agree getting the chance to spend time with your family and friends at Christmas is lovely, here at Winchester Caravans we believe after the hustle and bustle of Christmas, now is the perfect time to take that much needed break.
Caravans are great for those lazy summer days - with the kids out playing in the woods and the smell of BBQ in the air, however with Valentines day just around the corner, could you think of anything more romantic than spending those long winter nights snuggled up cosy in caravan with your loved one listening to the relaxing pitt-a-patter of rain on the roof.
With the chance of escaping into the countryside for much needed rest and relaxation, long walks in your wellies, pub lunches by roaring fires and stunning early sunsets, February has to be the perfect time to reconnect with your loved one and make the most of the freedom that only caravanning can offer you.
However, real life is not an episode of Lady Chatterley's lover and if you're not prepared for your winter break, those quiet, romantic evenings can be some what ruined by stinky socks hanging out to dry on the cupboard handles, wet coats creating a slip hazard in your washroom and although being snuggled up in a warm caravan is heaven, if the heating fails, cuddling up to share body heat may not be such an attractive option.
Our advice.. Be Prepared, Be Prepared, Be Prepared!
Maybe your last trip out was a few months ago, and although everything worked perfectly in your caravan the last time, we all know those infamous caravan gremlins could have been out at work this winter and those things that worked fine last time just ''won't light'' or '' just will not stay on''. If you get the chance, do check to make sure all your appliances all work on both gas and electric, and run some water through the system, checking thoroughly for leaks that could have been caused by heavy frosts.
Remember, this is England after all, so be prepared for all sorts of weather: wellies, waterproof coats and umbrellas for the rain, bobble hats, scarves and blankets to keep the cold at bay, and if you're like me, swimming shorts and costumes, you know, just in case!
Don't spend hours fighting over your full awning, remember this trip was about relaxation and reconnecting, not a trip to A&E with an awning pole stuck in your head or a sore thumb from banging in all those awning pegs. Consider using a porch awning, somewhere to hang those coats and stinky socks and kick off your wellies outside the caravan, whilst still being protected from the weather.
Of course I have left the most important things to last, always essential for those cosy winter nights away with your loved ones. Wine, chocolate, good food and the best of company!
This is Winter Caravanning, Winchester style.. have fun...!
